About Our Client

My client is a Private Equity Backed services business with an excellent reputation in their sector. Group turnover is circa £100m and the Group are growing significantly both organically and via strategic acquisitions.

The experienced and high quality Senior Management Team combined with additional third party investment make this an exciting time to join the Group.

Job Description

Reporting to the Group CFO, the Finance Director will be responsible for the following:

  • Full P&L ownership, financial control and day to day management of a transactional accounting team of up to 20 people, with an open and collaborative culture, in line with the core values of the Group.
  • Rigorous control of the balance sheet and management of the working capital and cash flow position of the group, to ensure banking covenants aren't breached.
  • Building and maintaining a close working relationship with all key stakeholders, providing commercial support and high quality management information for the business.
  • Upgrading, standardisation and maintenance of the financial systems and controls framework to minimise risk for the Group and build a high quality and efficient finance function.
  • Ad hoc support to the Group CFO / CEO, including direct involvement in post acquisition integration, and presenting to the Board the financial state of the business.
  • Direct involvement in preparation of key financial information for future investors.
  • Prepare and present monthly reports to the Senior Management team and the Group with related commercial information and analysis.
  • Support the CFO to prepare and help implement the strategic, annual and operating plans.
  • Manage key relationships with banks, legal representatives, auditors, and other external partners and advisors.
  • Support the Board analysing business development and growth opportunities for the business, including acquisitions, restructures and cost saving initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

  • Technically highly competent Qualified Accountant, likely an ACA, with a strong core background of financial control.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills, who can motivate and inspire a broad finance team.
  • Proven track record of delivery in growth SME businesses or VC / PE backed organisations, with an understanding of balance sheet control, working capital and cash management
  • A background of commercial and financial analysis to aid strategic decision making, would be advantageous
  • Strong communication and senior stakeholder management skills, who can gain credibility at all levels of an organisation, and has the ability to get buy in at Board level.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, committed to building a best in class finance function with world leading capability.
