Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make a move within the industry having gained significant financial leadership experience within energy or utilities. The ideal candidate will be qualified within practice and forged a successful career in industry with exposure to the energy sector.

The role offers you the chance to develop a broad commercial skill-set and have significant input to the development of the business. The key responsibilities of the Finance Manager are outlined below:

  • Provide assistance to senior finance in the direction of the accounting function
  • Assist in the preparation of, and monitor, budgets and financial reports, including group consolidations
  • Implement internal control systems and adopt proper policies for financial reporting to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements
  • Assist in the company's monthly, quarterly and yearly closing, conducting account reconciliations and analysis as required
  • Monitor the progress of accounting projects, including costs, billing, and reporting
  • Liaise with Project Managers and counterparties in other locations to set up project specifics in the accounting system and manage the information in accordance with company guidelines
  • Monitor billings against project budgets, while assuming initiative with Project Managers to resolve issues
  • Investigation of project variances and unbilled revenue and provide explanation for project variance
  • Perform periodic review of project revenue recognition
  • Perform project reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy of a project
  • Review accounting functions such as expenses, monthly cycle count preparation, analysis, posting, and reporting
  • Participate in maintenance and continuous improvement of accounting systems, including policies, processes and controls

The Successful Applicant

Successful applicants will be ACA or equivalent qualified with IFRS and GAAP reporting exposure. Group consolidations and/or multinational exposure (from industry direct ) will be beneficial in this role. You will have 7+ years experience and be able to demonstrate a commercially focused attitude and ideally have relevant sector or energy experience. This role also requires you to have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with senior management and stakeholders. Furthermore, experience with SAP and SOX is desirable.
