About Our Client

My client is a professional services, multi site business that is seeking a commercially minded and self-motivated Finance Manager to manage and actively contribute to the stability and growth of this client and service led company.

Job Description

With 2 members of staff (direct reports), you will be responsible for the accounts team and monitoring performance management whilst also ensuring there is team motivation and success of achieving departmental and business objectives.

Key task will include:

  • Weekly, monthly and yearly reporting of financial matters
  • HMRC reporting and liaison, all taxation requirements including some Director personal tax
  • Preparation of budgets,
  • Sage report design
  • Banking reconciliations, Invoice finance management, Purchase ledger, Sales ledger
  • Expense processing and management, weekly and monthly staff payroll and holidays self-employed contracted staff payments
  • Client invoicing, Client liaison, Procurement and supplier management
  • RBS audits
  • Review, implementation and management of robust financial policies and procedures
  • Pension system administration
  • HR/IT support and liaison
  • Preparation of accounts for audits and act as first point of contact with auditors
  • VAT returns
  • Credit control
  • First point of contact with banking partnerships
  • Create strategic plans for/with the MD and be responsible for the implementation of these
  • Support with strategic decision making

The Successful Applicant

To be successful for this position, you must be a qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA accountant, with experience in a similar position within a multi-site SME business. Experience within a small privately owned and growing company would be advantageous.

This position requires someone who is willing to get involved at every level and not just manage the finance function, someone with excellent interpersonal skills, leadership and commercial awareness. This person will be a strong problem solver, who is able to think on their feet quickly whilst managing work simultaneously and accurately at all times

Candidate Profile

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified/Degree in accountancy and finance with at least 3 years' experience in a similar role
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent commercial awareness
  • Excellent understanding of external service delivery
  • Experience working within a Group Finance Function using Sage Line 50 and Sage payroll
  • Experienced in working with operational and non-financial staff and management
  • Advanced Microsoft package knowledge in particular excel
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong influencer with the ability to force change
  • Have the skills and ability to provide financial guidance to non-financial staff as required ensuring that they are aware of the financial implications of business decisions
  • Must have a pro-active attitude, be flexible in a fast moving environment, and have excellent interpersonal skills with all staff from bottom to top
  • Have an exceptional eye for detail and accuracy
