Job Description

  • Work with internal and outsourced colleagues, monitoring completion of accounting tasks in your area
  • Understand and be an expert on the processes within your area, and liaise with stakeholders to understand business changes and strategy, and take responsibility to work with them and the outsourced team to amend processes to ensure accounting remains accurate and timely, and other reporting requirements are addressed
  • Review and present divisional reporting packs for internal stakeholders in line with required deadlines, plus any other adhoc reporting as required
  • Provide variance analysis with meaningful commercial commentary
  • Work with Group Financial Control and Policy to ensure GAAP compliant policies are applied to profit and loss accounting entries
  • Responsible for Balance Sheet accounts, including review of reconciliations and ensuring adequate assurance activities have occurred, commercial and transactional completeness of commentary, and summarisation of key items
  • Responsible for SOX control completion and effectiveness, payment approvals, chart of accounts mappings and governance changes for your area, and ownership of audit relationship for your area
  • Commercial Finance - Work closely with the team who are responsible for the internal presentation of the divisional numbers, and will have the commercial knowledge and operational relationships we'll need to leverage to ensure accurate and complete accounting
  • Own and understand the accounting processes and reconciliations that the offshore team will perform for you to enable you to deliver the accurate accounting for your area, following or implementing sufficient governance and measurement to ensure performance issues or changes do not impact your overall deliverables

The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified Accountant with Management Accounting and/or audit experience (ACA/ACCA or CIMA)
  • The ability to review accurately, but also to identify risks in processes and reconciliations and articulate/resolve/mitigate these as part of the monthly accounting cycle
  • To provide clear and meaningful interpretation of analysis conducted. To be able to lead and control meetings with senior stakeholders
  • To be able to understand finance and operational stakeholder's needs and requirements in order to provide excellent customer service. To understand the correct balance between challenge and support of these stakeholders in order to raise both the profile and external perception of the team
  • Work across internal and external teams in multiple locations to deliver improvements and best practice within the team
  • Self- motivated -Well-organised, adaptable and resilient
  • Responds to challenging priorities with a sense of urgency and pace
  • Ability to work under pressure
