Job Description

Operating as part of the Senior Finance Team, contributing to the development of departmental strategy and developing plans for delivery, from a finance systems perspective.

  • Managing and exploiting the functionality of the recent Finance systems, working internally and externally to ensure the University is getting the most from their investment.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance the organsisation Finance systems, proposing and prioritising development projects and upgrades, in accordance with the University's and Finance Department's strategic aims.
  • Managing the organsisations Finance systems, operating a secure and controlled environment and establishing regular monitoring procedures. This includes responsibility for user access and ensuring user roles and workflow tasks are structured in accordance with financial regulations.
  • Managing Finance's relationship with IT Services and external software suppliers. This includes reviewing market opportunities to source new suppliers and ensuring the University is using the most appropriate finance systems, putting forward recommendations for change as and when required.
  • Providing second line helpdesk support for users of the Finance systems, ensuring problems are rapidly investigated and satisfactorily resolved.
  • Actively engaging with the user community, encouraging the sharing of best practice. This includes running and attending focus groups and presenting at conferences where required.
  • Managing the Finance System Administrator and Finance Systems Developers, ensuring objectives are set in line with Finance strategic aims and to regularly monitor performance.

The Successful Applicant

The Successful candidate will have:

  • Proven track record of successful software/application deployment and administration
  • Experience of developing reports from relational databases
  • Relevant Unit 4 Agresso experience
  • SQL report writing skills
  • MS Office skills
