About Our Client

My client is a leading FMCG SME business that is located in London and looking for a qualified financial accountant.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include;

  • To be the primary person responsible for all financial accounting data held within the Group's systems and ensuring that data is accurate to enable the production of all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual trading statistics and financial data as required by the Group's operational and senior management team.
  • Responsible for the production of audited and unaudited annual and other financial reports.
  • Manage the relationship with external auditors and ensure that their programme is completed with minimal impact on the Group's operations.
  • Maintenance of all balance reconciliations, analysis and reporting for internal and external users of the data e.g. auditors, banks, other finance providers.
  • Responsible for the Group's financial systems including any updates, amendments and developments as required.
  • Regularly review the Group's data capture and recording procedures and make changes as necessary to maintain efficiency in corporate operations.
  • Identify internal and external customers of the team's reports and activities and meet the requirements of those customers.
  • Keep up to date of industry trends and financial reporting requirements and ensure that the group adopts best in class processes, systems and reporting standards.
  • Manage a team (currently 6) of suitably qualified and experienced accounting staff including supervising their professional development as deemed necessary.
  • Deputise for the Group Financial Controller as required.
  • Develop a suitable succession plan for the role.
  • Any other activities as required by the Finance Director or Financial Controller.

Context

  • The Group Financial Accountant will be required to work with most levels of management from the CEO and Finance Director down and must have an ability to communicate clearly with people who have different levels of expertise and responsibility. It is very important that the Group Financial Accountant is able to provide clear, professional, informed and relevant guidance and be confident in holding their own in robust discussion.
  • An ability to understand differing operational practices in branches and reconciling those with the requirements to provide financial reports is essential.
  • The role will require travel around the UK and possibly overseas sometimes at short notice as the group expands.
  • A detailed knowledge of database management and reporting is essential.

The Successful Applicant

The Group Financial Accountant will be able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision and hold a professional accounting qualification and ideally hold at least a bachelors degree from a recognised university. Experience in the fast moving consumer goods sector especially in multi-site locations.
