My client is a financial services organisation which specialises in pension schemes, employers, insurers, and charities, providing investment services to a range of clients.

Job Description

The Financial accountant will be responsible for:

  1. Preparation and filing of statutory accounts (and the consolidated accounts) including approval by the relevant directors and auditors in accordance with the timetable set by the Group Financial Controller.
  2. Preparation of the monthly and group consolidation for review by the Deputy Financial Controller, within the month end timetable.
  3. Produce financial information and ensure all the deadlines to the bank and other lenders are met on a monthly basis.
  4. Responsible for and the first point of contact for all matters in relation to Group and company taxation.
  5. Review of all Group and company tax information prior to submission to our tax advisors. Dealing with queries as required and liaising with the tax advisors on a regular basis.
  6. Preparation of the Group FCA return on a quarterly basis and review of quarterly company FCA returns when required.
  7. Day to day staff management responsibilities for one Assistant Financial Accountant, to undertake performance and development reviews for the direct report at least annually. To provide adequate training and mentoring to ensure that competency requirements of the direct report are met in full.
  8. Preparation of year end information for external audit and to be the main point of contact with external auditors and advisors as required regarding any aspect of the financial information.
  9. To liaise with the Head of Business Partnering and Finance Business Partner on monthly management accounts and issues with the information provided from the businesses.
  10. Provide quarterly technical updates and training to the department and any other ad hoc updates as required by changing legislation, standards and practices.
  11. Ad hoc projects as required from time to time by the senior finance team.
  12. To support the Deputy Financial Controller and Group Financial Controller as required.
  13. Monthly reconciliations of group consolidated balance sheet accounts ensuring reports are prepared for a detailed balance sheet control account review.
  14. To assist the Business Partnering team on the consolidation of the annual group budget.
  15. To manage/monitor all aspects of the groups cashflow.
  16. Preparation of quarterly Board papers.

The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified Accountant with demonstrable statutory accounting experience
  • ACA qualified
  • Experience of working under IFRS
  • Self motivated
  • Good team player
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines

What's on Offer

The successful Financial accountant will be offered a 12 month maternity cover fixed term contract, based in my client's offices located in the City of London.
