About Our Client

Non for profit organisation who has been through a change programme and an extensive transformation in the last few months. This is an opportunity for a technical accountant to support to organisation and add value on the financial reporting side.

Job Description

  • Statutory accounts production for the consolidated group;
  • Completion of VAT and tax in line with the deadlines.
  • Statutory accounts production for additional companies outside the main group;
  • Assist with new projects (looking for different income streams) researching specific accounting requirements and providing accounting advice where necessary;
  • Assist in the production of Due Diligence (including reporting, financial statements, interest cover calculations etc), as required by the the Board of Directors and/or external stakeholders;
  • General accounting assistance for the wider finance team as and when required

Personal Specification

Skills & Knowledge

  • Advanced level Excel and competent in the use of other Microsoft Office programs
  • Aptitude for creation and manipulation of spreadsheets with skill in managing in a multi-spreadsheet environment
  • Good communication and other inter-personal skills with ability to discuss financial information with users at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to analyse and interpret financial information quickly
  • Up-to-date accounting knowledge and awareness of financial issues, including an understanding of financial risk
  • Ability to understand the business and the role of the Finance team
  • Ability to recognise inconsistencies in accounts and perform reconciliations with minimal supervision
  • Thorough, and up-to-date, knowledge of VAT (including partial exemption)


  • Experience in a Finance department, including operation of computerised accounting systems to prepare management accounts, and preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Demonstrable success of meeting deadlines for the production of financial accounts
  • Recent experience of preparing VAT returns
  • Experience of budgeting in a multi-cost centre environment
  • Experience of creating and improving processes and controls within a finance function


  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
