Job Description

Ensure the efficient running of the Finance Department (including sales analysis, cost control and financial reporting requirements) to provide timely and accurate financial services information to all areas of the business to support the business strategy.

Key Accountabilities

Ensure that fiscal and accountancy requirements are observed, and effective control procedures operated, in order that the company is compliant with legislation, thus minimising tax and avoiding legal issues.

Ensure that the company's internal financial controls are fit for purpose.

Assist the directors of the company to understand and manage their expenses to maximise profit.

Provide support to plc in representing an operating entity's perspective when processes such as the annual budgeting cycle, is being refined.

Play a key role, along with the Finance Director, in the preparation of the company's annual budget and regular updates to financial forecasts.

Support the commercial activities of the business by working directly with directors and managers to budget, forecast, measure and analyse performance and resultant profitability.

Month end / year end reporting including completing monthly management accounts for sales, operating expenses, group projects, exceptional items and miscellaneous income and expense.

Provide departmental managers and their teams with advice on the financial implications of their actions and propose ways in which the financial performance of their department processes can be improved.

Assist in preparing statutory accounts and assist external parties with Corporation Tax submissions.

Review of tax including UK & Irish VAT, Intrastat and EC Sales List.

Manage and account for Group R&D projects and reporting on a monthly basis. Also manage any R&D related grant claims with external parties.

Manage cash on a daily basis, provide monthly forecast updates, monitor foreign currency exposure and consult with Group to arrange and account for standard hedges.

Provide support and review to the Cashier in dealing with and completing the plc's accounts payable function.

Manage 4 members of staff (Credit Controller, Cashier, Senior Payroll & Pension Adminstrator & Sales Analyst) including carrying out appraisals, development, training and support.

Ongoing ad hoc analysis as required.

The Successful Applicant

  • University degree, plus professional Accountancy qualification.
  • Ideally manufacturing sector experience.
  • Experience in managing a team.
  • Knowledge and experience in IFRS/FRS 101.
  • Experience necessary with computerised financial ledger system.
