Job Description

  • Manage, motivate and develop employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the Company's policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area.
  • Lead the Product Ledger relationships with internal customers to ensure that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and that process efficiencies are delivered. To lead regular reviews with all of the key business divisions.
  • Ensure delivery and review of financial reconciliations, including the investigation of outstanding items, as per deadlines mandated in the Accounting Operations timetable, ensuring the reasons for reconciling items are clearly and concisely explained. Responsible for driving forward the clearance of historical items through business partnering with key stakeholders.
  • Oversee and review the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial / management accounts, related revenue, balance sheet, tax or other regulatory returns in accordance with Accounting Operations timetables.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely management information is delivered to various business units, including driving forward the Recs Steering Committee.
  • Maintain and monitor robust financial controls in compliance with Group Standards, statutory and regulatory requirements and the risk and control framework, including liaison with Group Internal Audit and external auditors.
  • Lead the identification of system and process change opportunities in Accounting Operations. Deliver project and continuous improvement driven change initiatives impacting Accounting Operations systems and processes into production without impact to service levels.
  • Ensure procedure notes are up to date and there is adequate cross training within the team. Lead business partnering activity with all key customers and stakeholders.
  • Lead the maintenance, development and integration of relevant systems and support the team with projects, in particular act as the main liaison with the relevant product areas.

The Successful Applicant

  • A qualified accountant with at least 5 years' experience within a Finance environment.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including excel, word and PowerPoint.
  • Detailed experience of working on a core accounting system and reviewing trial balances and reconciliations.
  • Experienced people manager able to demonstrate positive performance management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff throughout the business and will lead meetings. The ability to listen to others and challenge to ensure understanding of their viewpoint.
  • Attention to detail and able to work accurately to tight deadlines. Performs inbuilt reconciliations and can identify errors in outputs.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills, with an ability to review the work of others and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Able to lead a team and coordinate planning and prioritising of tasks.
  • Proactively seeks solutions to problems and challenges existing processes and suggest improvements.
  • Sets objectives and ensures aims and timescales for delivery are clearly understood. Uses evidence, knowledge and experience to exercise judgement, while retaining control integrity.
  • Builds and develops strong relationships at all levels within Finance Reporting & Operations, as well as leading business partnering with senior stakeholders within the product divisions.
