Seeking inspiring, ambitious individuals, this business are looking to take their business international with the support of private equity backers and fitness gurus.

Job Description

The financial controller will be the eyes and ears of the finance function. You will be responsible but not limited to:

Accounting & Reporting:

  • Ownership of accounting data, systems and processes for the UK entity
  • Design/implement suitable financial controls as the business grows
  • Operate the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions for the UK
  • Operate UK bank accounts and perform appropriate bank reconciliations, effective management of cash deposits
  • Carry out appropriate month end procedures including making necessary journals (prepayments, accruals, depreciation etc)
  • Create and own the UK fixed assets ledger, including tracking development costs if necessary
  • Act as key contact for the UK audit
  • Work with HR on financial matters such as payroll, bonus schemes, share schemes, pensions and auto enrolment


  •  Prepare monthly management accounts with relevant commentary
  •  Work with Gibraltar team to produce consolidated Group figures
  •  Creation of statutory accounts / Group accounts, liaising with auditors to ensure appropriate financial reporting standards are adhered to
  •  Input into shareholder reports / investor presentations
  •  Partner reporting of revenues where appropriate
  •  Review and advise on appropriateness of accounting policies, helping to transition post merger alignments where necessary


  •  Develop a clear understanding of the business operations with respect to income and expenditure
  •  Work closely with department heads to forecast UK costs and global revenues
  •  Produce annual and quarterly budget accordingly, including P&L and cash flow
  •  Working capital planning
  •  Conduct monthly P&L reviews and investigate/explain material variances
  •  Help to instill a sense of responsibility in budget managers

The Successful Applicant

A bit about you:

  • ACA qualified from a mid-tier practice with 0-3 PQE industry experience.
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter and keen to work in a high growth early stage PE backed environment
  • Knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with staff at all levels including senior management
  • Good Excel skills, financial modelling experience preferred
