About Our Client

This role will lead a team of 3 Management Accountants, and will take responsibility for reviewing and supporting their work on a day to day basis. The Financial Controller will also take full responsibility for the preparation of Management Accounts, for a range of companies. The role will be broad and varied, and you will take a lead in the forecasting, budgeting and reporting process.

The challenge in the short term, will be to set the team up, with clear targets and responsibilities. Once the team is operational, and delivering on time, then the role will evolve to partner with the 4 MD's across the company.

The Financial Controller will work with the Managing Directors, to recommend new opportunities, and ways of working. It will be necessary that the person in this role enjoy a changing environment, and thrive with a fast pace of work.

Job Description

The Financial Controller will lead the finance team and work very closely with the Head of Finance. The Financial Controller will be responsible for but not limited to the following

  • Preparation of monthly consolidated Management Accounts, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
  • Regular accurate forecasts.
  • Monthly review of departmental profit and loss statements, with heads of department, to assess their profitability and track their progress against budget
  • Liaise with other teams to collate and understand non-financial metrics such as Sales pipeline and present your finds accordingly.
  • Coordinate, prepare and complete quarterly budgets.
  • Treasury and cash management, including credit control, supplier payments and cash flow forecasting.
  • Responsible for all tax, statutory and VAT compliance.
  • Oversee, administer and authorise UK and USA payrolls.
  • Some commercial finance duties including fund-raising activity and contracts.
  • Reporting to the VC shareholders and to the debt providers

The Successful Applicant

Successful candidates will be big 4 ACA qualified, having put together full sets of Management Accounts, in a leadership role. This isn't a statutory accounting role - it is purely on the management reporting side.

  • Excellent reporting and analysis skills
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced company, ideally software but you may come from media, telecommunications or another similar environment.
  • Up to date knowledge of accounting regulations
