About Our Client

My client is an investment management firm which offers a range of services, working extensively with high net-worth individuals in particular.

Job Description

The Financial Controller will have the following responsibilities:

  • Controls Invoicing and Payment cycles
  • Controls company bank accounts
  • Controls Company income from Customers
  • Prepares monthly management accounts and other financial reports
  • Prepares statutory annual financial statements & general analysis work, as required
  • Arranges for audit of annual financial statements
  • Prepares and submits FCA financial returns
  • Prepares annual budget for Board approval
  • Takes reasonable steps to ensure that the business of the firm for which he is responsible in the exercise of his controlled function of Systems & Control (Finance Officer) is organised so that it can be controlled effectively.
  • Acts as principal liaison with Internal Audit, who perform at least an annual internal audit visit producing a report for the Board of Directors.
  • Ensures that adequate systems are in place for carrying out the necessary checks on new members of staff to establish the honesty and propriety and the competence of those individuals prior to recruitment.
  • Ensures that adequate systems are in place to ensure the continuing suitability and competence of all agents and employees acting for the firm.
  • Ensures that staff salary and bonus arrangements do not provide any incentive for staff to compromise the UK office's ability to meet its regulatory obligations.

The Successful Applicant

The Financial Controller will have the following skills:

  • Acts with integrity when carrying out control function and in accordance with The Statements of Principle and Code of Practice for Approved Persons
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge and experience of FCA financial resources rules
  • Good communication skills
  • Good management skills
  • Financial Services background
  • Demonstrates sound analytical and problem solving skills and the determination to pursue problems to a satisfactory conclusion
  • Operates effectively as part of a small team, while being able to pursue matters to a satisfactory conclusion, as required.
    • Must be able to deal with day to day issues, but also with unexpected increases in the workload

What's on Offer

This will be a 6-9 month Fixed Term Contract starting as soon as possible. As this position is a maternity leave cover, there will be a 1 month handover period at the start of the contract.
