About Our Client

My client manufacturer, within a group structure which presents a plethora of challenges going forward for the newly appointment Financial Controller, a firmly established group which has successfully weathered a turbulent recessionary period. A privately owned business with a heritage dating back to the 1800's, key business drivers present the need to both embrace the entrepreneurial nature of the group leadership team whilst firmly maintaining strong hands on, controls lead financial management. This is a group which is well positioned through its long standing brand, market position and client relationships, to weather any and all challenges it may face in the years to come.

Job Description

As the Bury and Bolton based Financial Controller within this Manufacturing group of businesses, your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Team management
  • Preparation of UK monthly management reporting packs for group
  • Accounting for all "small" UK subsidiaries with the Assistant Accountant
  • Liaising with commercial teams to produce quarterly business and Group forecast information.
  • Production of annual audit files, statutory accounts and taxation returns.
  • Managing the financial accounting process including ensuring strong balance sheet controls and processes are in place
  • Preparation of UK detailed budgets.
  • Production of bi-annual budget and re-forecast Group packs.
  • Delivering cash flow forecasts as well as improving working capital and cash management processes
  • Production of monthly Group consolidation : actual, re-forecast and budget (quarterly)
  • Management reports and commentary of all above outputs.
  • Management of relationship with auditors, banks and other financial stakeholders.
  • Responsible for Group foreign exchange policy and hedging positions on contracts throughout the Group.
  • Production of monthly and annual taxation submissions for worldwide business registrations.
  • Implementation of controls and procedures to allow the business to rely on the numbers and reports produced.
  • Overall management of payroll, purchase ledger, sales ledger, subcontract ledger and treasury departments.
  • Accounting systems responsibility including working with systems teams to deliver upgrades and consulting on the global finance team

The Successful Applicant

The successful incumbent must have a demonstrable experience of hands on management, this includes both man management and financial management. This person will be required to manage somewhat complex financial demands within the group which range from forex and hedging therein through to financial consolidation and interest rate swaps, therefore a high degree of both academic and technical competence will be essential to demonstrate.

That said it must be recognised that this role is nothing short of hands on in nature, in which effective people management is just one element, the ability to lead by example delivering all deadlines will require diligence, commitment, honesty and organisation daily. A mentally to adding value will be the secret to the success of this person whether they aspire to be the groups next CFO or to simply deliver as a competent and diligent Financial Controller.

Successfullyshortlisted candidates must have most if not all the following experience:

  • Ideally some manufacturing exposure, with a firm understanding of the manufacturing process/ costing and stock management challenges therein.
  • Group consolidations
  • experience
  • Foreign exchange management: hedging of and reporting on
  • Hands on accounts production
  • Development of budgets from scratch

It is worthy of note that succession planning is in place for the right aspiring future Financial Director.

What's on Offer

Dependent on experience the salary will range from £55-65k + pension, 25 days holiday, discretionary bonus, and health-care
