The client is a real estate investment management business that will focus on real estate within UK initially and then European Real Estate.

Job Description

The Financial/ Fund Controller will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for all REIT Plc financial accounting and operational activities across a portfolio of industrial and logistics properties, in UK initially (then Europe). This will include listed reporting for AIM
  • Working with the CEO, Senior Asset Manager and the overall team to ensure the accurate and efficient operation of the fund
  • Ongoing monitoring and compliance with AIM / AIFM requirements
  • Responsible for managing the accounting process that 'delivers' the Net Asset Value and other KPIs
  • Acting as a point of reference for investor queries and investor specific reporting including investment IRR calculations and fund level returns
  • Overseeing and co‐ordinating the investment valuation process, including a high degree of interaction with stakeholders
  • Determine the timing, amount and preparation of capital calls and distributions
  • Maintain primary relationship with banks and lenders including sales and loan compliance reporting
  • Fund level cash flow forecasting and day to day responsibility for treasury matters
  • Work closely with Investor Relations and provide input to the quarterly investor reporting process and ongoing investor queries
  • Contribute to implementation and development of new online website re: performance and risk reporting
  • Supervising operations of the outsourced functions e.g. CoSec, Depositary; and maintaining orderly board reporting packs (quarterly)
  • Oversee hedging and negotiating fund level lending facilities

The Successful Applicant

The Financial/ Fund Controller will have had the following exposure:

  • Exacting attention to detail
  • Curiosity and proactive attitude
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills (including ideally some experience with valuation / board reporting)
  • Ability to forge effective relationships across various stakeholders
  • Proven supervisory skills with strong organizational and verbal and written communication

skills. Capability to effectively manage third parties such as auditors and administrators

  • Ability and desire to work in a high‐energy, entrepreneurial and professional environment
  • Capable of prioritizing and handling multiple tasks efficiently


  • Fluent English and written English;
  • Qualified ACA/ACCA accountant (or equivalent);
  • Educated to undergraduate degree level;
  • Previous experience in Financial Services and / or Real Estate, ideally with funds (although not essential);
  • Sound knowledge of accounting (UK GAAP & IFRS), together with broad experience of the industry;
  • Good understanding of financial markets instruments and capital markets;
  • Confidence to communicate effectively with a range of internal and external parties;
  • Must be able to demonstrate initiative and to manage their own workload.
  • Knowledge of Listing Rules, AIM Rules and Takeover Code beneficial;
