Job Description

Assist the ALM Risk manager with the development and maintenance of appropriate systems, processes and controls to monitor and quantify liquidity risk, incorporating the impact of stress scenarios.

Assist the ALM Risk manager with researching, interpreting and implementing new risk management techniques, limits and KRIs.

Maintain up to date weekly Management Information (MI), including the Group cash flow forecasts, Overall Liquidity Requirement (OLR) and other liquidity limits and triggers, for discussion at Group Management Committee (GMC), Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO), & Treasury Committee (TC).

Monitor activity outside of the department e.g. new product launches, to ensure that interest rate and basis risk management issues are always visible as well as maintaining a general awareness of the macroeconomic environment.

Monitor all limits and Key Risk Indicators (KRI's) relating to TFO and if any are breached immediately report them to Group Treasurer and Group Finance Director.

Monitor intra month (sometimes daily) risk limit compliance and to escalate any breaches or any possible breaches over the planning horizon.

Work with and monitor the work produced by the ALM Risk Analyst to ensure outputs meet the required deadlines and standards.

Assist the ALM Risk manager with the production of all documents submitted to ALCO, Board and the PRA.

Review treasury credit risk and liquidity risk ensuring compliance with the rules set out in the PRA and FCA Rulebooks against the Treasury Policy Statement making recommendations where this needs updating.

Produce, review and embed models, policies and procedures to ensure that they meet, and continue to meet, best practice.

Recommend IT systems/enhancements to maximize productivity in line with Continuous Improvement practices.

Maintain an awareness of the policies and procedures and adhere to them.

Promote and embrace a culture of continuous improvement being open and proactive to improvements and carrying out improvements in line with the corporate methodology.

The Successful Applicant


Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject area and ideally in the final stages of completing a recognised professional qualification or having recently qualified.

A working knowledge and understanding of the current regulatory landscape, macroeconomic environment, and financial risk management techniques

This role requires a person with very good numeracy, analytical and PC skills as well as a keen eye for detail.

It is highly important that the role holder is well organised and works well under time pressure and possesses the ability to plan effectively.

Literate and able to research and interpret complex regulatory requirements and make recommendations to the ALM Risk manager regarding the approach to be taken.

Commercially aware, proactive and forward looking.

An excellent understanding of the balance sheet, profit and cash flow linkages throughout an organization and how key sensitivities liquidity and interest rate risk is essential. The job holder will be in contact with the Group Executives and Senior Management regularly and the ability to communicate effectively at this level is therefore essential.

Able to exercise appropriate judgment when analysing and filtering information for group executives and senior management.
