About Our Client

Client is the Pension Fund of a well know household name with £8bn AUM.

Job Description


  • Assist with the underwriting of new fund investments, to include primary responsibility for quantitative analysis as well as meeting with fund managers and assisting with fundamental investment research, legal and tax reviews.
  • Assist in the ongoing monitoring of existing investments, to include quantitative performance analysis, cash flow modelling and qualitative reviews alongside the PM. This will involve speaking directly with invested fund management teams on a regular basis and working alongside investment consultants. Also includes intra-month monitoring of hedge fund performance and working with the relevant fund manager to assess drivers of that performance vs. expectations and market dynamics; the analyst here will be expected to actively follow and develop an understanding of markets across asset classes.
  • Responsible for the preparation of internal reporting on performance as well as updates on the cross-asset class market environment. Key to this is a quarterly investment report direct to the CIO reviewing fund and portfolio performance and portfolio level risk analysis, quarterly reporting to the Trustees on KPIs and a monthly update to the Trustees on performance and portfolio management activity.
  • Active participation in the Alternatives investment meeting. To include discussion on macro views and strategy direction with direct responsibility for calendar planning, the investment deal log and providing initial summaries/thoughts on potential opportunities therein.
  • Main point of liaison with the Middle Office ensuring trades, valuations, corporate actions etc are in line with front office expectations.
  • Various other administrative duties including file management of all investment documentation and internal reporting, production of meeting agendas and taking meeting minutes, updating of procedure manuals.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have/be;

Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Educated to graduate level with ambitions to complete the CFA
  • Basic understanding of pension funds, the investment management industry and the role of alternatives in portfolio construction
  • Basic understanding of alternative investment products; to include private equity, private credit, infrastructure and hedge funds
  • General understanding of investment markets and dynamics


  • Strong interest in financial markets and investing
  • Self-motivated with drive to learn and develop, and to show initiative in the delivery of objectives
  • Team player
  • Analytical, accurate and detailed oriented
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and to process and draw conclusions from qualitative and quantitative information
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong competence in Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Good written and verbal communication and ability to present effectively

What's on Offer

A base salary of between £45k-£50k is on offer plus a bonus of up to 25% and benefits
