Our client is a FMCG business based in West London who specialise in the restaurant industry.

They are looking for a Group Accounting Manager.

  • 1160+ restaurants in 24+ operating countries with 30,000+ employees
  • $2.0 billion system turnover approx.
  • Core markets are South Africa, Australia and UK (250+ restaurants per market)
  • 10 country distribution business of Grocery food products
  • A variety of business models are used - including Company Owned and Operated in the UK and US, a hybrid of Company owned and Franchise in SA, Australia and Canada, a JV in Malaysia/ Singapore and Master Franchise Agreements in smaller markets
  • Worldwide philanthropic and CSR programme
  • Privately owned by 2 family groups who have been involved in the business for over 20 years and have played key roles in creating and building the concept and culture

Job Description

The Group Accounting Manager will be responsible for

  • Ensuring the timely, accurate and efficient reporting of the financial results and financial processes for a number of the companies entities.
  • Ensure compliance to Accounting, Tax, VAT, Legal, Audit, Statutory and Operational standards
  • Ensure, through on going management and continuous improvement, the effective operation of systems, processes and people performance to deliver high quality output, excellent customer service in line with budget and strategic plans.
  • As this is a new role and team, there will be an initial focus on designing, developing and delivering the process, people and technology to support the various entities and business functions

Financial Reporting

  • Lead the Financial reporting process to ensure timely, accurate and efficient reporting of Management performance report and statutory accounts.
  • Prepare the key components of the Strategic Plan, Annual Budget and Forecasts in conjunction with the Budget holders and Group Planning teams.

Business Processes

  • Lead the smooth and efficient operation of the Purchase to Pay, Order to Cash and Record to Report processes across a number of legal entities and business functions.

Control and Compliance

  • Maintain and review the legal entity structure and performance to ensure compliance to tax, legal and operational standards.
  • Champion a sustainable control environment that meets company standards for all entities.
  • Provide support on external audits as well as monitoring audit remediation plans where necessary.

Account Management

  • Manage the relationships with the key stakeholders for the entities / functions covered. These stakeholders include (i) Budget owners and Function heads (ii) Market General Managers and Finance teams (iii) Auditors and (iv) Group Finance Team. The relationship with Budget owners and market teams is governed by a Service Level Agreement.

Change Management and Process Improvement

  • Develop new and streamline existing processes and systems to ensure more effective delivery of accounting / transaction processing and generating value add. This should result in greater capacity to take on additional entities and increase the scope of activities covered.

People management

  • Develop and deliver people strategies (culture, recruitment, objective setting appraisals, and career planning) in conjunction with Group FC to ensure a balance between delivering business results and meeting individual needs and aspirations
  • Ensure high service level mentality from team members and across the group.

The Successful Applicant

The Group Accounting Manager will ideally have the following experiences

  • Accounting Qualification (ACA/ CIMA/ACCA) and / or evidence of significant experience in an Accounting role.
  • Experience in successfully managing a transaction processing operation - Order to Cash, Purchase to Pay and Record to Report.
  • Strong IT / system skills with a focus on automated transfer of data with suppliers / customers.
  • You can interpret business performance and balances, to identify anomalies, trends and business reasons for change.
  • You have experience in identifying opportunities and lead change management programs to streamline existing processes and support and persuade people to implement them.
  • Manage conflicting priorities and deliver on key priorities.
  • You can comfortably communicate within all levels of the organisation and with external professional advisers.
  • You are very customer and solution focused.
  • Ability to manage coach and develop a team of highly qualified individuals in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work on one's own and with a team to deliver results.
  • To manage relationships remotely.
