Job Description

The Group Financial Controller will have responsibility for leading and mentoring the Finance team (team of 3), and managing their training and development needs to ensure that the team has all the necessary capabilities to deliver against the department's objectives.

Commercial:

  • Manage the strategic objectives of the business, to drive profitable growth, by reviewing and evolving the pivotal components of this.
  • Maintain strong relations with Clients and Suppliers via the robust negotiation of contracts.
  • Manage the risk of contractual agreements by ensuring we negotiate favourable terms.
  • Negotiate and manage the company's insurance portfolio

Finance:

  • Continually review, challenge, revise and then implement changes to the accounting and Management Information (MI) systems to provide maximum insight into company profitability.
  • Actively manage the financial systems (principally Maconomy) and processes to ensure they are utilized the maximum extent thereby creating efficiencies with in the Finance team to focus on process improvements.
  • Drive the finance team and systems to provide greater insight into the business thereby highlighting opportunities to increase profitability and increase margins both on individual accounts and across the Group.

  • Continually review all finance processes within the business to ensure they are efficient and up to date whilst maintaining rigour and minimizing risk to the company's resources.

  • Provide accurate, relevant and timely MI to the Board and Team Leaders to ensure that areas of the business under their control can be properly managed.

  • Prepare and monitor all financial budgets and forecasts for the Company and each department ensuring that costs are managed to agreed budgets.

  • Prepare cash flow forecasts ensuring the company working capital is within the agreed targets.

  • Manage the treasury function, protecting the company's capital and optimizing the returns of our capital.

  • Prepare annual Financial Statements in accordance with Financial Reporting Standards and Best Practice.

  • Ensure that all financial controls are in place across the company so to eliminate financial risk and loss.

Tax and Legal

The Group Financial Controller will be based in London.

The Successful Applicant

The succesful candidate will have the following:

A commercially minded Finance expert with experience of working in, or working with, small/medium-sized company, and who has the potential to assume the role of Finance Director in the future.

Academically strong and will have a Chartered Accountancy qualification, preferably from within the Big 4, and at least 3 years experience working with the Professional Services or Marcomms sectors.

Strong leadership and management skills with a track record of effectively leading, mentoring and developing a successful team.

Strong Financial background and business acumen along with an ability to make a contribution towards the strategic development of the business.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary to build trust and respect both externally and internally.

A versatile personality with good problem solving skills and an eye for detail combined with sound numerical and presentation skills.
