Job Description

Financial Reporting

  • Preparation, consolidation and review of monthly US GAAP income statement, balance sheet and schedules to support the financial statements.
  • Assist where required in the preparation of the Groups financial statements.
  • Client profit share statements.
  • Monthly production and fee report.
  • Monthly departmental expense reports incorporating variance to plan / prior year.
  • Manager Schedules in both GBP and USD along with supporting commentary.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial packs with supporting ratio analysis.
  • Production of monthly management information for the Board / senior management.
  • Reconciliation of monthly underwriting results to financial systems.

Financial Accounts

  • Review monthly / quarterly balance sheet reconciliation process.
  • Support Financial Accounting Manager with bank reconciliation process.
  • Maintain asset management system.

Client Reporting

  • Production of financial information to be sent to clients.
  • Disbursement of cash collected to relevant parties.
  • Taxation

    • Prepare, review and submit P11d, PAYE Return and PAYE Settlement Agreement.
    • Coordination of the Senior Accounting Officer certification
    • VAT returns. (The UK group is standard partially exempt)
    • Insurance Premium Taxation returns.

    Statutory Reporting

    • Extensive liaison with the group's auditors.

    Financial IT

    • Identify opportunities for improvement in reports / interfaces from the production systems to finance systems, specify modifications and perform user acceptance testing.
    • Work with other areas of the business to develop offerings to new clients.
    • Actively promote an environment of continued IT development to improve efficiency, accuracy and reduced reporting timescales.
    • Ensure that best practice is maintained in spreadsheet design along with continued development of VBA functionality.


    • Managing a team of circa 8 people in the UK.
    • Manage all staff reporting to the position so as to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, delegate and monitor their activities.
    • Provide coaching, training and mentoring to staff to help them perform their duties more effectively.
    • Agree objectives with direct reports and conduct regular appraisals.
    • Advise the management reporting team of current accounting standards, latest issues & best practice.


    • Work closely with the Internal Audit / SOX Manager to address any internal control issues.
    • Adhere to local and externally relevant health and safety laws and policies.

The Successful Applicant

At least five years post-qualification experience working in a supervisor role of a Financial Services, multi-site organisation
