Job Description

Business Strategy & Planning

  • Create and execute the Supply Chain Management best practise to deliver a strategic plan considering the following:
  • Vendor sku development based on market / business intelligence to deliver service availability for growth
  • Customer / Sales collaboration to meet demand / optimise turns and reduce Inventory Risk
  • Identify both short and longer term opportunities to drive Continuous Improvement to become part of our organisations DNA
  • Develop Inventory Management solutions to drive reduction in inventory risk whilst ensuring flexibility , scalability and velocity to meet upside demand
  • Evaluate the core competence and capability of our Purchasing Team to ensure that both current and future development needs of the business are met through People development or acquisition

Business Development & Results

  • Vendor relationship management to ensure:
  • Understanding of Vendor / Market demand pipeline
  • Creation of SLA contracts and performance management to include:
  • Supply LT reduction
  • Incoterms
  • Cost control including Pricing updates
  • Execute & track Rebate programmes and ensure rebate recovery achievement
  • Implement & track Exchange rate agreements
  • Stock Rotation
  • Advanced or Defective Returns TAT
  • Deliver Material Cost reduction programmes to ensure competitive market pricing opportunities across the Excel brand
  • Track Cu LME movement and the associated buying pattern of commitments based on favourable or adverse LME movement
  • Continue to evolve Flat Pack v Component Build Floor rack model to assist in reduction of manufacturing build cycle time whist minimising risk around inventory sku mix / volume & serviceability.
  • Work with our Vendor Partners to ensure focus upon ISO14001 requirements & Sustainability through Product Life cycle , including impact to customer through packaging reduction opportunities
  • Creation and delivery of the Inventory Supply & Stock Plan to deliver:
  • Maximising Inventory Turn improvement
  • Ensuring increasing Stock Service Availability %
  • Reduction in Inventory Provision Risk & associated obsolete write off risk
  • Execution of MRP suggestion requirements
  • Reduction in NON standard MOT i.e. Air Freight whilst maintaining Stock Service Levels
  • Analyse Freight costs and routing to maximise inbound & outbound FCL shipments to reduce % of freight costs related to product costs as well as reducing transit LTs
  • Evaluate volumetric usage of FCL to max out shipment consignments whilst balancing potential inventory level increase across skus due to shipment max out volumes

People Management

  • Ensure Purchasing team understand and support / deliver both Vendor & Internal / External Customer collaboration to effectively service route to market & positioned to execute growth opportunities
  • Deliver a clear vision & communication channel so that team fully understand their contribution & impact to the wider business and customer service experience
  • Publish, promote and track daily / weekly and monthly KPIs so that each team member can value / understand how their performance clearly impacts business performance
  • Regularly evaluate team competence and capability through the assessment of performance management , Aspire programme and development plans and training programmes , including the assessment of whether development within existing team can work or whether external acquisition maybe needed.
  • Ensure the review and use of succession planning across the Purchase & Planning team

Performance metrics

  • Stock Availability Target across ABC & 1-2 Inv classifications (monthly & Qtrly)
  • Lost sales report calculated using number of days at zero stock x avg daily sales value over period (last 90 days sales) Every month report value
  • Inventory Turns (ITO) (monthly) UK & ME
  • Inventory Value UK & ME
  • Inventory Provision UK & ME
  • Overdue Invoice Value & Working Days Aged Every month report value
  • Rebate agreement implementation & recovery tracking
  • Exchange rate movement tracking / market impact price movements
  • Material Cost Reduction implementation
  • Reduction in adverse value of NON standard MOT freight
  • Supplier LT / Transit LT in working days
  • Team development / competency assessments / absence and team attrition % through Aspire Perf management process
