Head of Business Change - Energy/Utilities - Milton Keynes

You will be working for one of the UK's newest residential energy suppliers. Our client is part of the an Energy group with over 1.8 million customers in North America. Recently established in the UK market and are looking for customer-centric staff to join their growing UK team.

Job Description

Head of Business Change - Energy

Key Activities:

  • To successfully shape and deliver the agreed portfolio of business change projects of between 10 and 30 projects
  • To manage business change ensuring all business impacts arising from the projects are identified and tracked and that maximum benefit is gained from all changes implemented
  • To track and force action on key project attributes (dependencies, risks, issues etc).
  • To manage the key stakeholders, including fortnightly/executive progress reporting against the business change plan
  • To interpret and manage the business risk exposure generated by the business change portfolio

Main responsibilities:

  • Financial Controls - Ensure all expenditure commitments (orders, contracts, budgets etc) and all payments are properly authorised, controlled and monitored in accordance with business change project lifecycle
  • Work with individual project managers to ensure delivery of business benefits
  • Initiate remedial action in response to project progress reports and establish appropriate project visibility to keep stakeholders aware
  • Direct responsibility for approx 7-15 senior project professionals
  • Manage up to 10 external suppliers and 10-20 exec/senior stakeholders

The Successful Applicant

Key Skill Requirements:

The post holder will:

  • Track record of managing successful change management/portfolio delivery.
  • An expert in project management application and have an in depth understanding of other areas within the organisation and how these inter-relate.
  • Expert in effective issue resolution - able to maintain an impartial high level view of what the business is trying to achieve.
  • Ability to balance hands-on/hands-off approach as appropriate.
  • Strong change management knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of energy industry regulation and policy.
  • Numerate, able to distil the key messages from large amounts of data quickly, and be very comfortable dealing with Business case principles, project accounting & financial reporting.
  • Extensive communication skills at the individual and organisation levels - able to negotiate between.
  • personal and organisational needs.
  • Results and outcome focused, and builds positive relationships.
  • Demonstrates a practical/can do attitude and has the capability to manage the programme/risk trade offs
