Job Description

The role

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, The Head of Commercial will be based full time at head office and will accountable for.

  • Assessing commercial risks to the business and collaborating with colleagues to mitigate and manage the risks in line with the authorities matrices of the company.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Sales Team have the commercial information that they require to satisfy the needs of our customers, the right information at the right time.
  • Responsible for managing the Commercial Team, supporting the Sales Team with market opportunities and coordinating the support provided by other Teams involved in the sales
  • Mentor and support the Commercial Team to ensure they reach their full potential.
  • Assess contractual and commercial risk and lead in managing and mitigating such risk.
  • The principal source of advice to the Board of Directors, the Commercial Team and Sales Team on commercial matters.

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a small team of commercial professionals; coaching and developing staff, managing workloads and driving performance.
  • Acting as a role model to other team members, setting an example through constructive and proactive behaviours.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Manage the pricing and cost estimating associated with quotations and tenders.
  • Liaising with the Engineering Team and the Manufacturing Team to develop the best technical and commercial solution to each enquiry based on the client requirements defined by the Sales Team.
  • Contribute to factory planning and operational planning meetings with the wider business.
  • Actively support the Commercial Team in responding to RFI's, RFQ's and tenders including obtaining necessary internal approvals on sometimes complex contracts in challenging jurisdictions.
  • Lead improvement projects and initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Commercial Team and assist other team's improvement initiatives.
  • Provides expert advice and guidance to the Board on commercial matters.
  • Ensure that export compliance and other relevant regulations and legislation are followed by the Company at all times

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidates will have

  • Proven record in a senior commercial role in an export oriented organisation, preferably in an engineering field.
  • A successful background in export markets, preferably in public procurement and business-to-government sales.
  • Significant proven record of negotiating and handling contracts in an export environment.
  • Proven record in improving commercial processes and procedures.
  • Back-ground in using and managing bonds, guarantees and export payment mechanisms.
  • Use of CRM systems to record and co-ordinate activity

What's on Offer

The Successful candidate can expect a basic salary of up to £60,000 + Bonus and Benefits
