About Our Client

The business are a successful investment business with billions of pounds worth of assets under management. They are looking for a Head of Digital to join the marketing team in central London. Financial Services experience is not essential and the business are looking for someone to be coming from a commercial B/2 background.

Job Description

Key responsibilities of Head of Digital:

Overall responsibility for the digital strategy for the business, its online presence and digital marketing. Ensuring brand cohesion across the digital assets for all the Octopus Group businesses and actively supporting Octopus Ventures and Octopus Property with their digital efforts.

This role will work closely with the marketing heads of the group businesses, the other functional heads within Group Marketing and the product marketing managers at Octopus Investments.

The Head of Digital will have significant interaction with the IT Director, COO, and other members of the senior management team. He / she will also have involvement with large cross-functional projects that have a digital component.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Develop a digital strategy and road map (within the context of the overall marketing / business plan)
  • Grow the digital team so that it can effectively support the business. This includes finding the right agency(s) to partner with as well as identifying key skill sets needed in-house
  • Create a best in class customer experience for our different audience groups
  • Work with the customer team and IT to support the re-build of the secure web portals and support the overall portal strategy.
  • Implement a robust content management process that is embedded across the business.
  • Put a structured content marketing strategy in place for our website so we are promoting and leveraging content as effectively as possible.
  • Introduce innovation into our digital marketing campaigns and e-communications and increase their overall effectiveness.
  • Work with marketing and the wider business to develop a cohesive strategy for social media and implement a clear process.
  • Ensure the appropriate controls and processes are in place to safeguard our digital assets and minimize risks in our digital activities.
  • Defining and developing a mobile strategy
  • Contribute to the general direction and strategy of the marketing team as a member of the Group Marketing Leadership Team.
  • Internal advocate and champion for digital transformation, educate and develop the leadership team to future proof the business

The Successful Applicant

Experience needed:

The right candidate for this position will be an experience digital marketer with a track record of transforming businesses, websites and overall digital presence. Strong relationship building skills, and a flexible, can-do attitude are a must.

Financial services experience will be an advantage, but we are open to applications from outstanding digital marketers from other sectors. We are looking for our Marketers to be passionate about digital and have the drive and determination to champion the role of digital in transforming the business and creating an industry-leading brand.

More specifically we are looking for:

    • Experience in developing online market strategy and execution of tactical activities
    • Experience managing website development projects across organisations
    • Experience managing projects to improve an organisations digital capability
    • Exceptional eye for detail
    • Experience in managing and developing small teams
    • The ability to critique and edit copy
    • Creativity in terms of marketing campaigns and the use of online media to drive profits
    • Passion for business and online in particular
    • Willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done
    • Mentality to hit the ground running and manage workload independently
    • Able to build relationships with key stakeholders and team members
