About Our Client

A National charity based in North Oxfordshire.

Job Description

Ensure, in close cooperation with the Chief Executive that an appropriate, board approved, financial policy framework is in place to guide the charity's financial decision making (including preparation of statutory Annual Accounts)

Ensure the appropriateness of the key assumptions included in the charity's annual budget proposals.

Provide advice to Senior Managers on these matters and continuing the development of financial awareness and accountability in managers across the group.

Ensure the provision of accurate and timely monthly management information to the Senior Management Team

Ensure provision of robust accounting services for use by managers in planning and controlling the income and expenditure of the charity, cash flow management and cost control (including invoicing, credit control, purchasing, etc)

Providing financial input into tenders, grant applications and the development of new services.

Provide Company Secretary responsibilities - timely submission of all external reporting e.g. Companies House and Charity Commission

Be the authorised official for the charity for Inland Revenue and HMRC (and any other statutory bodies as appropriate) purposes etc

Provide line management, support and supervision to the Finance Manager and Finance Assistant

To provide leadership to the team, ensuring effective delegation, regular team meetings are held and communications within the team are effective. Ensure there is efficient management of outsourced services for payroll and audit.

The Successful Applicant

Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ACA)

Minimum of five years post qualifying experience in both accounting and management

Substantial experience of management at senior level

Excellent Team Leadership skills

Excellent analytical and interpretive ability

Experience of developing, delivering and monitoring financial strategy

Experience in the preparation, monitoring and reporting of budget and financial management information

Awareness of company secretarial, legal and tax issues relating to companies and ideally charities

Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to a broad range of people internally and externally including non-financial specialists.

Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Access; Outlook; Word; PowerPoint and Excel.

Experience in the financial management of a Charity, Trading Company and Group VAT reporting

Excellent working knowledge of accounting systems (Sage 50 and payroll)

Experience of working within a charitable organisation
