Job Description

  • Develop and agree annual departmental operating plans to meet fundraising targets.
  • Provide effective leadership and management to the fundraising team, providing challenge, direction, and management support.
  • Demonstrate sound financial management, setting and delivering to agreed annual budget
  • Ensure that the charity meets or exceeds quality, regulatory, audit, safety, security, efficiency, cost and effectiveness expectations.
  • Maintain effective performance management, reporting, early warning and improvement systems to minimise operational risk.
  • Ensure a coordinated approach is taken to all fundraising activities.
  • To build sustainable relationships to ensure all donors and supporters are nurtured and cultivated in order to maximise their long term contribution to the organisation.
  • To contribute to making the charity an attractive employer, recruiting, retaining, supporting, motivating and developing high calibre employees to achieve best in class results.
  • To support the team in working effectively, using information, technology and support services to good impact, and ensuring all fundraising and retail activities conform with all appropriate regulations and good practice.
  • To maximise the professional and effective use of volunteers.
  • To manage all charitable donations and income in accordance with the operating financial management arrangements.
  • Act as a lead ambassador raising the profile of the charity at external meetings, conferences, events and functions, raising the charity's profile and developing new and existing supporter relationships.
  • Strengthen our key strategic relationships and alliances for the charity, ensuring that the full corporate implications of any partnerships are fully understood.

The Successful Applicant

  • Demonstrable track record of leading fundraising success in the charitable or commercial sector with very substantial direct or transferable experience.
  • Proven ability to network and build sustainable relationships with strong negotiation skills.
  • Partnership orientated and customer focused with a passion to make a difference.
  • Proactive, initiative taker and an analytical strategic thinker.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure, multi-tasking and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong leader with the ambition, conviction and personal charisma to inspire employees at all levels to go above and beyond their targets to achieve significant results.
  • High degree of integrity, tact and brand spirit.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work at all levels internally and externally.
  • Ability to be flexible in terms of working hours, including some evening and weekend working.
  • Full UK Driving licence and willing to travel.
