About Our Client

The Abbeyfield Society, based in St. Albans, are a charity/membership organisation who offer care and support for older people across the UK and beyond. Founded in 1956, The Abbeyfield Society have now developed over 500 houses and homes with 4000+ volunteers in the UK. Worldwide there are now 9000 residents living in 850 homes with big growth plans ahead. The Abbeyfield Society are committed to new developments with a new dementia care home being built in Reading this year among others, due to open around Autumn time.

The Abbeyfield Society are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year with lots of events and celebrations planned, continuing their commitment to keeping residents' at the heart of what they do and the service they offer.

Job Description

Strategy - Working on the yearly marketing plan, but also reviewing the 5 year plan set in October 2015 in relation to the 5 year corporate plan.

Agency Management - Working with the local design agency and advertising agency based in London.

Events - The Head of Marketing will work at a strategic level on events coming up, for example, 'The Abbeyfield Society Week' taking place in June where their doors are open to the public in order to raise awareness of what they do and the services they offer.

Regional ATL - Press and outdoor advertising on a regional level, utilising local marketing where applicable.

Campaigns - Working alongside the wider marketing and communications department on creative campaings, for example;

  • Researching and rolling out a campaign centred around getting older people outside. This year this will be based at Hampton Court.
  • Golden Gallery - Natonal campaign focusing on the celebration of arts of older people launching in May.

The Successful Applicant

The Head of Marketing will have experience at a strategic level leading a team in either a charity/membership sector, or private sector and is looking for a move into a more rewarding environment.

The successful candidate will be strategic, creative and determined to make things work.

What's on Offer

Salary is between £50K and £60K depending on experience.
