Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  1. Develop and manage the procurement department including setting targets and monitoring performance
  2. Engage support and agreement for the strategy from key stakeholders so that implementation and compliance are optimal; promote the effective management of suppliers to sustain value throughout the life of the contract
  3. Establish new processes and systems for effective procurement across the Company.
  4. Develop an e-procurement vision and investigate opportunities for broader savings
  5. Provide specialist advice, guidance and service on leading practice procurement to all Marketing activities ; lead the Company in identification, assessment and management of potential risks associate with differing sourcing strategies; provide insight through the analysis of spend, supply markets and savings
  6. Work closely with the Group to address the immediate procurement priorities
  7. Develop and maintain a robust framework for Supplier Management.
  8. Enhance relationships with internal and external partners to ensure effective execution of strategies and drive cost savings.
  9. Provide regular reporting to the senior team and CPO.
  10. Take ownership and build a best in class procurement function and implement necessary capabilities.

The Successful Applicant

Job scale - qualitative

  • French language skills are a must.
  • Influencing at all levels of the management hierarchy
  • Negotiating with suppliers, often their sales or managing directors
  • Large amount of travel required between UK and France - potential Poland/Russia
  • Working with different business cultures and languages

Experience required

French language is a must

International experience necessary

  • High intellectual ability combined with commercial aptitude and awareness
  • Ability to work unsupervised with high level of self-motivation.
  • Good strategic thinker and is able to shape the agenda independently.
  • Strong stakeholder management and inter-personal skills and confident communicating up-the-line
  • Ability to analyse data and identify opportunities to improve existing status quo.
  • Ability to drive change.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Skills and Qualifications

Degree qualified (BAC +4)

Likely to have further qualification in purchasing/ business management

  • Procurement and supplier management experience gained at senior level.
  • Understanding of procurement value chain, technologies involved.
  • Strong analytical background - data manipulation and analysis using MS Office.
  • Experience in influencing stakeholders at all levels both internal and external.
  • Comfortable with fast-changing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail.

High standards of professionalism - works to deadlines, punctual, sets up and runs meetings with clarity of agenda and expected outcomes

Challenges existing purchasing practices in a positive way

Focuses on making change happen and has the influencing skills to do this

Fluent English speaks and additional language skills are an advantage (French an advantage)

Capable of handling ambiguity and potential conflict
