Metropolitan is one of the South East's largest social housing providers, they have a substantial property development pipeline and several regeneration projects worth at least £2 billion. They own over 38,000 properties and service over 90,000 customers.

Following a period of business change, the organisation is ready to embark on an ambitious growth programme and is looking to recruit a number of talented finance professionals to support delivery of this plan.

Job Description

This is a pivotal role for the organisation, financial reporting, management information and taxation advice to the development finance team and to the Group.

Key duties will include:

  • Provide customer focused financial information and taxation advice to colleagues in development and finance
  • Produce management accounts for the Development Team, and produce notes and working papers for the statutory accounts as required
  • Responsible for ensuring Work in Progress value are recorded correctly on the Oracle system and reconciled to the Pamwin system
  • To be responsible for ensuring quarterly VAT returns are completed on time with are fully reconciled to the VAT control accounts on the Oracle system

The Successful Applicant

You must be a ACA or ACCA qualified accountant from a Social Housing, House Building, Professional Services Tax or other relevant background. The successful candidate will have excellent technical skills and ability to research and apply technical knowledge to unique accounting transactions. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and ability to translate financial information to non-finance colleagues. This role would be suited to an individual from a Tax background who is looking for their first move into industry, and would like to pursue a career in financial reporting, tax, and development accounting.
