Job Description

In this varied HR Advisor role you will be working closely with managers within the organisation to provide support and guidance in all areas of HR. Key responsibilities are:

  • Provide a dedicated HR advisory service covering areas such as absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievance matters, organisational change and a range of employment and employee relations matters.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with service areas, colleagues and union representatives, establishing professional credibility.
  • Lead on the management of casework and absence management.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a performance management culture - which will require developing managers' skills in this area, leading on capability related casework and advising and guiding managers through the relevant processes.
  • Lead or support the HR Manager on disciplinary and grievance casework, ensuring legislation, policy and best practice are followed.
  • Prepare regular ad hoc management information reports, as agreed with service areas, to support continuous improvement in the management and monitoring of sickness absence and performance management.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of development workshops in areas of HR best practice, to enhance knowledge and skills within the College.

The Successful Applicant

You will ideally be CIPD qualified or working towards your qualification. In addition you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Hands on experience of all areas of HR - ideally with a focus on employee relations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people and influence others when required
  • Demonstrate a desire to provide a business partner approach to working with managers
