Job Description



  • Working as an influential Business Partner to the Fleet Engineering Director, acting as coach on all key decisions with people implications.
  • Communicate effectively to review, develop and recommend actions to ensure that it meets its strategic people and development objectives whilst outlining clear policy and procedures both here and down route
  • Enable smooth integration of the HR Information System (HRIS) in terms of Management Reporting, and develop use of Manager and Employee Self Service.
  • Annually review all HR policies and procedures, to ensure your own area is compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Support, develop and coach junior HR colleagues with their personal and professional development, ensure they are appropriately involved in operational and project work as appropriate.
  • Support, develop and coach managers in relation to people issues, how the Manager can develop and support their team to reach their full potential and effectively manage issues
  • Working with Management to identify skills shortages, future risks, succession plans and talent development
  • Working with Corporate Communications to design, develop, support and implement strategies and drive employee engagement programmes within Fleet Engineering
  • Other duties such as conducting exit interviews, collating information and identifying and reporting trends

The Successful Applicant

  • CIPD qualified or working towards
  • Understanding the HR Business Partner concept
  • Planning and organisation skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to offer solutions and problem solving skills
  • Competent with managing Employee Relations matters, provide clear professional direction with empathy and emotional intelligence
  • Understanding of relevant employment law, HR Policies, procedures and best practice.
  • Strong commercial acumen with understanding of business requirements
  • Excellent HRIS skills. Experience of using HR Select / SAP or similar packages
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to deliver under pressure within specified time frames
  • Previous experience in a busy HR function with an Engineering or Manufacturing background
