Centrica Storage Limited (CSL) is a leading energy and services company. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Centrica plc.

CSL's storage facility is the largest in the UK, able to meet approximately 10% of the UK's winter peak day demand and representing more than 70% of the UK's current storage capacity.

Job Description

The role of HR Director has responsibility for setting the people agenda to support business development.

Key areas of focus will include ensuring an effective organisation through fit for purpose structures and organisational design, developing future talent as well as identifying our future leaders.

A key part of the remit will be to introduce innovative ideas as our business changes, driving through performance management and improved employee engagement.

Managing a team of 8 within HR and Communications, and supporting a headcount of 300FTE, the role will include the following responsibilities:

  • To play a leading role in the CSL management team working closely with the MD and ensuring that the people agenda is accorded due importance.
  • Developing and implementing an HR strategy which supports the future requirements of the business.
  • Effectively building relationships with the leadership team, providing expertise and guidance to support high levels of business excellence.
  • Managing key HR projects (onsite and across sites) from initial planning through to successful delivery that underpin the strategic objectives.
  • Providing expertise to the business on key organisational design and change management programmes.
  • Delivering and creating a hands-on pragmatic approach to HR Management through engagement of all CSL employees and by being empowered to make business operational decisions.
  • Introducing and implementing innovative areas of change activity and informing the leadership team of key people management trends and introducing tailored solutions to meet the business need.
  • Leading the Internal Communications agenda through the development of a communications strategy that backs up the HR strategy and keeps CSL employees engaged.
  • Leading the Leadership development agenda to ensure we have the right skills in the business at the right time, including succession planning, training and development.
  • Diagnosing, planning and implementing the most effective course of action to undertake in key areas: culture change, performance management, engagement, financial delivery, Business Excellence and organisational design (for example).
  • Coaching and influencing leaders in dealing with key people management and development issues.
  • Play a part in the wider HR Team and contribute to the achievement of the broader HR strategy for Centrica.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be a highly experienced HR Generalist of graduate calibre with a successful track record in operating at leadership/Board level.

You will have extensive experience operating in a change and transformation environment and be able to demonstrate first class stakeholder management and influencing skills.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a matrix management structure and possess the drive and ambition to not only succeed in this role, but to grow with the business, being prepared to take on new challenges with a positive can-do attitude.

You will have the ability to challenge in an effective way and demonstrate strong resilience.

Candidates from an energy background would be preferable.
