My client are a leading provider of business services: loan finance and enterprise development for start up and growing businesses.

Job Description

Manage the HR team

  • Provide for consistent delivery of high-quality advice and practical support, using template letters and management guidelines, across the entire HR function.
  • Track performance of HR team, seeking feedback from the businesses and tailoring the HR service in response.
  • Provide coaching, development and guidance to other HR team members as required.

Manage remuneration and benefits

  • Manage records on annual leave, sickness absence and other employee benefits systematically and accurately.

HR Service delivery

  • Manage the HR team workload to ensure services are delivered to agreed standards.
  • Monitor requests from internal clients and ensure timely provision of a response.

Manage HR policy and compliance

  • Maintain currency of the Staff Handbook, communicating changes promptly and consulting over any contractual impact.
  • Provide for consistency in staff-management practice across the business.

Management information

  • Ensure diligent management of staff records in line with agreed policy.
  • Manage the team to provide regular management information, including statistical reports (e.g. diversity statistics) for management and Committee reporting

Create a Learning and development culture

  • In collaboration with heads of businesses and the HR Director define corporate training needs and assist in the delivery of appropriate development solutions.

Project manage key initiatives

  • In collaboration with the HR Director design and deliver organisation-wide projects, both pro-actively to ensure good practice and also in response to the needs of others.

Support the HR Director

  • Provide a discreet, confidential and informed support to the HR Director and help deliver a fair and commercially aware HR strategy across the business.

The Successful Applicant

Previous experience of managing a small team of HR employees at Advisor/Officer/Administrator level, to deliver a responsive service to internal clients

Experience of using Cintra IQ for the management of staff records

Experience of managing payroll

Degree and/or HR relevant qualifications.

SME Experience preferable

Able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and experience of the HR function including:

  • Development of HR policy,
  • Management of Company-wide employee relations
  • Management of corporate communications
  • Management of a variety of HR projects in response to operational needs

Keeps current awareness of HR and employment law developments

Comfortable using a range of products, particularly Microsoft Office, Outlook and an HR IT system

Uses Excel spread-sheets to produce graphical and other reports

Experienced in keeping electronic and manual personnel records accurately and efficiently Good interpersonal, consultative and communication skills to establish a supportive relationship with a wide range of people.

An HR generalist with very significant experience at HR Officer or Advisor level, as a minimum

Experience of designing corporate responses to Government changes in employment law.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, suitable for communicating:

  • organisation-wide to senior and junior employees, and
  • at an appropriate level for senior Directors

Confident in managing a variety of competing priorities

An efficient manager of an administrative service

Ability to thrive in a fast-moving working environment without loss of attention to detail.
