Job Description

The role will help provide a clear understanding of the key issues for branches and be continually developing local leadership's skills, knowledge and understanding and use their influence to support change to build and maintain a consistent culture across the business.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Work with the Divisional Director to develop the divisional health and safety strategy and associated annual delivery plan.
  • Guide and coach Regional Directors/Operational Managers, Branch Managers in all aspect of safety leadership and performance.

○ Integration of safety into business operations

○ Leadership behaviours

○ Accident Investigation

○ Risk Management

○ Managing preventative and corrective actions

  • Deliver a variety of health and safety related training in accordance with the divisional delivery plan
  • Deliver Audits at Branch/Stores along with appropriate post audit support in accordance with the annual plan.
  • Use a variety of performance measures to identify trends and improve safety, health and wellbeing performance. Sharing best practice and celebrating success across the division.
  • Act as a visible leader for the principles.Through personal leadership style set the right tone at the top and establish an open culture encouraging a high level of communication and employer participation both internally and externally on issues.

Additionally as part of the wider Group Team the role will

  • Support the development and implementation of Group wide initiatives and activities including the development of new systems, tool and training.
  • Work collaboratively to share best practice and ideas
  • Support other Business Partners by adopting a flexible approach to interdivision working, visiting other brands/business locations as necessary to improve working efficiency. The role heavily influences the success of the Division and wider business strategy. Delivering clear objective value to the business. Ultimately the role will help drive a positive change in long term accident frequency and severity rates.

Managing the complexity of a diverse range of brands, geographies and overlap with other central functions (HR, Legal, Property, Transport.)

The Successful Applicant

Person Specification

Qualifications desirable;

● NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent

  • PTLLS or equivalent training qualification
  • ISO/OHSAS Auditor


  • Experience of safety culture and behavioural change programmes


● Excellent Communicator, able to train and represent at both Board and Floor level. Full Legal & Technical understanding of H&S

What's on Offer

Basic salary paying up to £45,000 plus bonus, pension car or cash equivalent
