Job Description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as H&S Officer you will work as part of the SHEQ team taking full responsibility for the HSE strategy on site and maintaining and improving cultural change through various initiatives. You will be based on site in Liverpool during the day and expected to support all colleagues and senior management in H&S improvements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • To complete H&S audits and work with site managers to ensure that improvements are made
  • Completing HAZOP studies where appropriate
  • Promote and develop a safe working culture
  • Identify and provide training to staff and management to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice
  • Implement a system which monitors staff training requirements in relation to H&S legislation and best practice
  • Proactively supporting the prevention of work related injuries and illnesses
  • Contribute to monthly accident reporting
  • Carry out accident investigations when necessary
  • Improve and maintain a Health & Safety induction programme
  • Provide document control - H&S policy, risk assessments, SWPs, SOP's etc
  • Follow up on audits by external bodies - i.e. HSE, Environment Agency
  • Provide advice & support

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for the H&S Officer role will be working days Monday-Friday, with some occasional travel to other sites. You will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum NEBOSH diploma/grad. IOSH level qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of driving a change and cultural attitudes towards H&S
  • Experience and a proven track record in continuous Health & Safety improvement programs
  • Previous history of working at a manufacturing site, food, waste services or chemicals industry
  • Process safety experience
  • Detailed knowledge of HSE legislation
  • Some experience of Food Hygiene and Food Safety Legislation
  • Awareness and understanding DGSA regulations
  • Full UKs drivers licence
