Job Description

    • Deliver assigned programme of audits to professional, ethical and quality standards within allocated time, using judgement to define the scope and testing approach to ensure key risks are addressed.
    • Manage co-source resources, when required, to deliver the audit work in a way that maximises value for money.
    • Proactively look for areas of improvement during the audit process and provide value adding and insightful recommendations that address control and process opportunities and issues.
    • Produce Terms of Reference documents and Audit Reports that are well written and effectively communicate the agreed scope of work, key findings and recommendations of each audit.
    • Own and manage a portfolio of audit actions being worked on by the business and, on business completion, assess the effectiveness of activities undertaken to address the risks identified.
    • Continuously communicate and work with the Head of Corporate Audit to avoid surprises, ensure audit progression and support the production of reports e.g. for committees.
    • Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders and maintain a thorough knowledge of the business and regulatory environment.
    • To promote shared learning across the organisation, lead regular planning and risk review meetings with assigned stakeholders to share themes from audits completed and understand evolving risks and challenges to inform future audit coverage.
    • Provide controls advice outside of audit delivery activities whilst maintaining independence.
    • Provide technical expertise, guidance and training on information systems matters to the broader Corporate Audit team.
    • Perform investigations and special projects, for example in response to significant business events or business change initiatives.
    • Promoting a positive safety culture through visible proactive, consistent and influential behaviours
    • Keep the company safe by co-operating with others to ensure a co-ordinated approach to promote a clear understanding of each party's duties, roles and responsibilities for Safety and Wellbeing
    • Report all incident, near misses, hazards, taking action as necessary to control hazard as appropriate

The Successful Applicant

  • Strong information systems and project auditing experience, Big 4 experience preferable, with proven track record for delivering audits within multinational utility/asset management companies or operations/functional experience from utility/assessment management companies.
  • Working knowledge of COBIT framework.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of project methodologies, audit delivery and practices, internal control frameworks and risk management activities; and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices.
  • Demonstrable track record of developing successful, long lasting, relationships across the business including ability to engage, challenge and influence senior managers, deal effectively with resistance to proposals and secure their buy-in and support.
  • Strong knowledge of, and experience of, business processes (e.g. digital risk and security), ideally within the utility sector.
  • Knowledge of current trends within the energy industry and developments in legislation or regulation.
  • Experience of managing project teams, managing others and projects independently.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, and Word), Project and Visio.
  • Knowledge of data analytics (e.g. ACL) and process improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma) are highly desirable.
