Job Description

Prepare global management accounts, budgets and forecasts working in collaboration with the Programme Finance/Business partnering Team.

 Produce statutory financial statements for the UK and overseas entities where required.

 Oversee the UK finance function, including credit control, cash flow forecasting, purchase ledger, investments & payroll.

 Oversee statutory, grant and contract audits, liaising with auditors as necessary

 Minimise exposure to foreign exchange movements, forecasting future currency needs, liaising with foreign exchange bureaus as appropriate to arrange forward contracts etc.

 Manage and control UK banking and investments, including oversight of transfers to overseas branches.

 Ensure finance systems and processes are operating efficiently and in accordance with approved policy and procedures.

 Ensure operates compliant, tax efficient schemes for PAYE, VAT, Social Security and Corporation Tax in the UK.

 Support the development, implementation and integration of financial management system (PS Financials) and Contract Management System (CAMMS).

 Lead the development and implementation of rolling ICT strategy.

 Manage and motivate departmental staff to perform to a high standard, conducting appraisal meetings in line with organisational policy and agree and review progress towards individual and Departmental targets on a regular basis

All HQ staff are expected to undertake the following general duties:

 Work within the framework core values, promoting its ethos and mission statement.

 Work towards achieving programme and/or department business plan objectives

 Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all policies and procedures and keep informed of activities

 Travel overseas, sometimes to developing countries and areas in conflict, as and when required

The Successful Applicant

Essential Experience

 Demonstrable post-qualification experience in a senior financial role

 Strong leadership background in a complex, multi-currency accounting function

 Preparation, consolidation and analysis of management accounts

 Preparation of Charity SORP Final Accounts

 Significant experience in the ongoing development and implementation of business/financial software/systems

 Strategic Treasury Management including the management of foreign exchange risk

Essential Aptitude

 Ability to produce work of a consistently high standard

 Adept at working calmly under pressure to meet deadlines

 Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic approach to work

 A genuine interest in, and commitment to, humanitarian mandate


 CCAB Qualified accountant
