About Our Client

My client is a top 50 international Law firm, which recently converted to a LLP. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join this business in a one year fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave as Interim Group Financial Accountant in their London office.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include:

  • This business became a LLP on 1 May 2011 and the Group Financial Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of the annual LLP accounts & associated schedules.
  • Ensuring the timely preparation of the London, German and Middle East LLP accounts, London Service company and consolidated accounts for the business in accordance with UK GAAP and the firm's accounting policies.
  • Planning and organisation of the consolidation process. This will include co-ordination of the production of the year end financial reports (including analysis, commentary and associated schedules) for the London LLP and its affiliated entities. Including liaising with the London finance team and accountants in International offices to ensure a full understanding of the consolidation process requirements & deadlines.
  • Ensuring the year end members interests / partners' current accounts and associated schedules are accurately presented in the LLP accounts.

    Identifying year-end adjustments that will need to be reflected in the consolidated or International offices accounting records to follow local requirements.

    Liaising with Finance Manager's in international offices to ensure a reconciliation of group accounts to local accounts are prepared with a full explanation of variances. For Greece & Monaco this will include direct liaison with external accountants.

    Liaising with auditors and tax advisers as required in relation to group accounts. This includes assessing impact of any consolidation adjustments with tax advisers.

    Liaising with tax advisers on UK tax reserves & tax returns

    Liaise with auditors to plan annual audit & communicate deadlines to team.

    Assist Group Financial Controller with monthly review of management reports, balance sheet reconciliations & intercompany balances.

    Responsible for managing the International Accountant who is responsible for preparing the management accounts for the Greek office and providing accounting support to other International offices.

    Assist Group Financial Controller in providing senior accounting support to International offices

    Responsible for ensuring all partner balances are reviewed monthly and any discrepancies are highlighted and resolved.

    Preparation of schedule of partner distributions and ensuring payment to partners.

    Assisting Group Financial Controller to ensure financial controls and procedures are robust, comprehensive and efficient.

    Assist with the development of group accounting and reporting systems, working closely with the Director of Finance, Group Financial Controller and Systems Accountant.

    Assist with advising on the accounting impact of acquisitions, disposals or other group structure changes. Assist Group Financial Controller and Director of Finance with any special projects

The Successful Applicant

The individual will need to demonstrate / have experience of :

  • in-depth knowledge of UK GAAP essential and international accounting experience an advantage.
  • producing published financial statements.
  • discussing matters with senior management and able to explain succinctly accounting/tax issues.
  • dealing with and advising on accounting and tax issues.
  • an ability to implement appropriate change to the firm's accounting and reporting systems and processes.
  • a good understanding of best practice in internal control processes.
  • high degree of professionalism and accuracy in work.
  • strong relationship building skills.
  • strong influencing and communication (both verbal and written) skills.
  • successfully managed teams, being persuasive and earning respect.
  • effective writing and presentation skills.
  • ability to work under pressure.
  • professional qualification (ACA/ACCA) with at least three years experience in an accounting practise and at least six years post-qualification experience.
  • working in a professional services firm environment would be an advantage, including knowledge of partnership tax.
  • intermediate knowledge of Excel.

What's on Offer

This fixed term contract will be paying between £65,000 - £75,000.
