The Mechanical Engineer is a key engineering role responsible for the development and delivery of the mechanical engineering systems for the bio-refinery. The role will be responsible for setting up and maintaining high standards of safety, statutory compliance, maintenance and continuous improvement to enable safe, legal operation at 95% availability from the plant assets.
The Successful Applicant
The Mechanical Engineer sits within the Development Team and is responsible for setting and maintaining the mechanical engineering standards for the plant. They will do this through writing and maintain procedures, approving modifications, accepting project design proposals and providing technical support the Maintenance Team.
Key areas of accountability will include, but not limited to:
- Defining procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory regulations including:
o LOLER regulations
o PED / PSSR regulations
o LEV regulations
o DSEAR regulations (mechanical aspects of gas and dust)
o COMAH permit obligations
Ensuring Mechanical Engineering compliance with all VFL management systems including those associated with ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and FEMAS.
Setting the strategy for equipment condition monitoring
Controlling abnormal situations and emergencies
Implementing the key risk control systems necessary for the control of major hazards
Ensuring all inspections and maintenance procedures are in place to meet regulatory requirements.
Mechanical approval for all plant modifications.
Mechanical design approval for projects.
