Job Description

  • To lead the activities of the site HACCP team in order to maintain a "live" HACCP document that is subject to annual review as a minimum. Also to ensure that all identified CCP's are monitored and recorded at appropriate frequencies

  • To maintain customer complaints for the site, ensuring proper investigation of complaints and driving the process of complaint reduction at site

  • To provide a qualified audit resource and to carry out internal hygiene and system audits against predetermined schedules. Further, to ensure that audits are recorded and non-conformances dealt with

  • To manage and lead any external quality audits / visits by both customers and local authorities

  • To be responsible for administering the corrective action system and for providing information regarding site corrective action performance

  • To regularly audit and ensure the integrity of the site traceability systems

  • To administer and ensure the correct operation of the site quarantine system and also the process of quarantining stock at the companies external depots

  • To be responsible for pest control on site and for managing the activities of the Pest Control contractor
  • To provide leadership in maintaining good standards of cleanliness and hygiene on site
  • To be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the quality management system and for carrying out an annual review
  • To maintain quality records in order to demonstrate "due diligence" and the correct operation of the quality management system
  • To maintain the clearance process for ingredients and packaging materials and to sample and test against schedules for micro, analytical and nutritional testing where required
  • To lead the process of investigation of quality related incidents on site

  • To maintain and issue recipes and manufacturing standards, packing standards
  • Other tasks as may be directed by the Technical Manager
  • Site responsibility for Food Safety, Quality and Legality. Ensure suitable and sufficient procedures are in place and that appropriate measures are implemented and monitored. Ensure regular communication and consultation takes place and work alongside senior management to maintain standards at all times

The Successful Applicant

  • Ideally degree qualified in a food science, science or technical discipline

    • Minimum of 5 years relevant food industry experience

    • Previous experience of team management

    • Computer literate and experience of retailer web based system

    • Good communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade, and able to increase the profile of the Technical department on site

    • Ability to prioritise workload balancing the immediate and longer term aspects of the role

  • Pro-active in looking for ways to improve the status que

  • Organised and self-motivated possessing drive and enthusiasm
