Job Description

The inventory Planning Manager will:

  • Identify key Supply Chain strategies including but not limited to the improvement in Forecast Accuracy, Safety Stock, Supplier Lead Times, Core Management, and Excess & Obsolete Inventory. Drive changes in the Inventory Planning process to positively influence Customer and Supplier Fill Rates, Past Due Orders, and Inventory Turns.
  • Oversees all aspects of the Supply Chain process for the European Aftermarket business unit - Forecasting, Planning, Scheduling, and Delivery. Ensures that every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and lost sales opportunities and to minimize excess/obsolete stock.
  • Manage and lead the teams in the different locations and lead them to reach ambitious KPI's
  • Carry out regular and detailed analyses and report out on KPI's, gaps, root causes and action plans (chases tirelessly backordered items, deals with ad-hoc requests, express parts etc); feed back to ERP-system
  • Member of the local Management team and derive Supply Chain strategies to align with overall business goals; shows trends and anticipates and discusses potential future modelings, including make or buy
  • Manage initiatives to reach costs savings (Supply Chain, Distribution & Forwarding, Kitting, Production), implementation of lean concepts
  • Visits key customers and suppliers
  • Regular review of excess stock and action steps for improvements
  • Cooperation with Quality, Purchasing, Product Management to improve Supplier Quality
  • Models and implements customer satisfaction programs within own area of responsibility
  • Familiarizes with best practices, new processes and tools, trends, and gives input to Sr. Management for improvements and investments (e.g. safety stock, MOQ, VMI etc.)
  • Coordinates with purchasing, quality and marketing departments new product launches and assures all supply chain related activities are addressed on time

The Successful Applicant

The successful inventory Planning Manager must have the following:

  • Strong Inventory Planning and Supply Chain background and previous responsibility for managing a Supply Chain function
  • Ability to recognize key problems before they become major issues
  • Capable of recognizing opportunities that translate to bottom line improvement
  • Understands the big picture and can develop programs and processes that capture the true potential and opportunities that may exist - an 'Out of the Box Thinker"
  • A 'Champion for Change" capable of role modeling via work ethic, focus and people skills
  • Self - Starter with a 'can do - get the job done" personality with superb motivational skills to encourage contribution and involvement from others
  • A team builder and excellent communicator who presents ideas in a fashion where 'Buy In" is readily achieved. Can manage and lead diverse teams locally and remotely
  • A demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally within the company, as well as globally with suppliers
  • Strongly grounded and at ease working in a technology-driven manufacturing environment
  • Embraces a style of accountability, continuous improvement and acts with a sense of urgency
  • An excellent coach and team leader who develops clear and concise stretch goals, and is able to formulate and execute a plan.
  • Superior project management skills that encompass multiple tasks on multiple projects
  • Knowledge of tactical material planning procedures and forecasting systems
  • Unquestionable integrity and trustworthiness

Education / Background:

  • Logistics or Business Administration Degree or equivalent with focus on Inventory Management or Supply Chain preferred
  • 5 years of similar background with 2 years in Parts Distributions Center's operations and spare parts Supply Chain, preferable in automotive industry
  • References that prove management, leadership, and coaching skills
  • Solid understanding of Supply Chain best practices (Inventory Planning, Demand Forecasting, Planning and Supplier Scheduling)
  • Strong oral and written English language skills are mandatory; any other European language would be an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of computer systems, ERP (Oracle), Data Warehouse, as well as solid knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word)
  • Ability to travel 10% - 25% to internal facilities, suppliers, and customers
