Our client has more than 25 partners and employs over 250 people. As well as project-based, specialist legal advice, they offer their clients ongoing general counsel support. They also have access to legal expertise, including IP/IT expertise, in over 80 countries.

The client's IP, IT and Commercial group provides a comprehensive range of legal services in the areas of intellectual property, IT and contracts and commercial law. Their clients include major multi-nationals, mid-tier businesses and start-ups, in all industry sectors.

As well as providing traditional advisory services in these areas, they work on many exciting and unusual projects as an integral part of multi-disciplinary teams involving tax, technology, sourcing and supply chain, risk and business strategy consultants. These projects range from risk audits to cross-border business transformations or restructuring complex IP portfolios and often challenge the lawyers in the team to go beyond the traditional confines of legal advice.

Job Description

Our client is looking for a qualified IP / IT Lawyer with experience in IP and/or IT and a desire to work across IP, IT and general commercial projects.

Like the rest of the team, you will enjoy an interesting and challenging workload. The team works on a wide range of projects across the specialisms covered by the group.

The successful candidate will be one of 10 qualified lawyers (covering the range of work described above). However, this is a particularly exciting time for the client, with a market leading IT specialist joining shortly to lead the team.

Specifically, the role is likely to include:

  • Drafting IP, IT and commercial agreements;
  • Advice on IP, IT, e-commerce and general commercial laws;
  • Some corporate support/due diligence work;
  • Business Development, including over time building a network of referrers and developing direct client relationships.

The Successful Applicant

Our client is looking for:

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales or equivalent common law jurisdiction
  • Excellent academic background
  • IP and/or IT law experience
  • Strong contract drafting and analytical skills
  • An NQ or between 1 and 3 years PQE
  • An interest in working in a variety of areas
