About Our Client

Our Client is a specialist American insurance firm with a rapidly growing presence across Europe. This role is a core position within the newly appointed procurement function which currently spends approximately US$166m per annum with third party suppliers. Procurement works with the business to ensure that in respect of that spend, costs are optimized, risk is minimized and supplier performance is maximized.

Job Description

As IT Procurement Lead you will take full accountability for the European IT spend. Specific responsibilities will include the following:

  • Engage and manage stakeholders including senior executives to identify and share business opportunities, challenge existing supplier relationships and secure agreement to new initiatives
  • Promote and implement business change, in particular persuading stakeholders to involve Procurement early in their expenditure plans
  • Ensure the Procurement Policy is effectively applied
  • Advise the business on their requirement specification
  • Provide insight into current market trends and supplier capabilities
  • Use analysis of spend MI to develop and implement sourcing and sub-category strategies that will provide cost savings, improve quality and increase efficiencies
  • Benchmark current provision through market analysis
  • Determine the most appropriate sourcing strategy for specific sub-categories and transactions
  • Review contracts with suppliers and advise the business accordingly
  • Provide leadership on key procurement initiatives
  • Lead on RFPs
  • Negotiate pricing and terms and conditions with suppliers
  • Provide advice to the business on best supplier and contract management practice
  • Actively support supplier performance management programs using KPIs, scorecards and regular business reviews
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the business to drive continuous improvement and innovation from suppliers
  • Lead on contract dispute resolution
  • Play an assurance role to ensure suppliers are being managed effectively
  • Ensure all relevant contracts are held in the Contract Management System
  • Occasionally lead on procurement activity in categories other than IT

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this position you will have demonstrable IT Procurement experience across hardware, software, infastructure and application. You will have previous experience of category management within a financial or professional service organization and a natural capability to act as a trusted Procurement adviser to senior IT management. In addition you will have a demonstrable track record of analyzing spend and markets, advising on sourcing strategies and leading major sourcing initiatives and contract negotiations.
