About Our Client

The R&D Tax team currently has a vacancy for Junior R&D Consultant who will have responsibility for managing a portfolio of claims for R&D tax relief and tax credits. This involves undertaking technical and financial assessment, liaising with HMRC, and client management. The roles focus on clients within the Software sectors.

Job Description

* Identification of qualifying R&D projects and expenditure through participation in technical discussions with clients
* Technical assessment of projects in line with HMRC R&D tax relief guidelines and preparation of supporting technical documentation
* Ensuring R&D claims meet the requirements of the relevant tax legislation and guidelines
* Liaising with financial consultants on the preparation of tax documents for submission of claims to HMRC
* Project management of claims (i.e. continuously liaising with clients, colleagues and key contacts at HMRC to ensure claims are optimised and deadlines are met)
* First point of contact with client

* Supporting R&D Tax Relief claims in the event of HMRC R&D enquiries
* Actively developing and promoting both internally and externally the R&D tax offering
* Taking a flexible approach to core working hours and a willingness to meet exacting service delivery standards
* Attending meetings, building and developing effective working relationships with colleagues, intermediaries and other networks to develop further opportunities and business over time
* Continuously developing own knowledge and skills and to keep technical knowledge up to date
* Representing the Firm at seminars and engineering related events

The Successful Applicant



* A holder of a recognised Computer Sciences university degree (MSc and / or PhD). This in combination with a business degree would be an advantage
* Experience in software development and programming in two or more of the following: SQL, Oracle, X10, .NET CLR, JVM, JavaScript, C#, XML, HTML, PHP, Solaris, Redhat


* Ideally proven experience of working on several projects, meeting deadlines and working under pressure within a business unit with internal and external clients
* Excellent communication (both spoken and written)
* Strong numerical ability
* Curiosity, awareness and an interest in the fields of science, technology and innovation
* Be highly proactive in the approach to new work opportunities
* Team player and ability to work on own initiative
* Able to project a professional, credible image
* Trustworthy and able to maintain strict confidentiality
* Able to travel to clients' premises for meetings and on-site reviews as well as other offices as needed
* Prepared to work extra hours when the job demands
* Have the drive and ambition to make a real contribution to the future success of the R&D Tax team.
