Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Lead Advisor (Banking) with the city regulator. As a Lead Advisor (Banking) you will be responsible for ensuring that a coherent supervisory strategy is in place for the largest banks and so focus more on analysing the business models and strategies of individual firm and provide support to a manager in leading a team.

Those that undertake a wider range of activities which include: co-ordinated project work

on the largest banks; dealing with events and crystallised risks on all banks; and cross firm work on medium and smaller banks.

Those that focus more on the identification and mitigation of sector-wide risks.

In all cases you will be expected to work flexibly and use your judgement and analysis to

devise forward looking strategies that help prevent customer detriment.

You will have the opportunity to engage with the senior management of firms on a wide variety of topics, and take responsibility for delivering elements of our supervisory and sector strategies. You will work in a fast-paced, challenging and supportive environment with a team of people who want to deliver the same excellence you do. Depending on the role you can expect: to be involved in monitoring the performance of firms in redress and remediation exercises; and to challenge senior management to deliver better customer outcomes including discussion regarding the c ulture within their firms.

The Successful Applicant

You will have:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly assess complex, often confidential, information, and identify and present relevant issues in a timely and succinct manner.
  • Strong experience of financial services regulation (ideally retail banking) though we will consider others.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the confidence to engage effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to challenge and persuade firms to change behaviour.
  • Curiosity and motivation to continually learn about and investigate issues within the firms and industry we supervise
  • Experience of successful team work and delivering work with and through others. You will work actively with others to deliver outcomes, achieving tasks and proactively offering your help to colleagues
