About Our Client

Client is based in a picturesque country house, just outside of Redditch and is within a 40 minute drive from Solihull, Warwick, Bromsgrove, Birmingham and Worcester. Founded in 2010, Client is a major craft transactional brand, and is the only UK TV shopping channel devoted to people who make their own jewellery; whether for personal use, gifts or for resale.

Job Description

  • Develop websites, applications and rich multimedia experiences according to the brief and technical specifications. Work closely with other UI and back-end developers to integrate the UI according to departmental standards and processes.
  • Produce UI assets (HTML, CSS, and graphics, video and rich media) in adherence to departmental standards. Work with design agencies and the user experience team to develop user interface concepts that support the intended purpose.
  • Mentor other members of the development team in technology, best practices, design patterns and test methodologies.
  • Work closely with all members of the Agile team to deliver high-quality code that is tested and delivered across the full the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Participate in all Agile planning meetings and stand-ups.
  • Adapt quickly to changing environments, concepts and emerging technologies to assist in the future roadmap of our products and consumer experiences. Competencies:
  • Candidates will be required to command good communication and leadership skills and work well within a team structure, a proven ability to develop new skills and a thorough understanding (expected to achieve a result over the 90% percentile in the relevant technology test) of the following:

The Successful Applicant

  • Expert knowledge of HTML, HTML5 elements and their application. Must be able to handcraft semantic mark-up for consumption on various platforms.
  • CSS3, including Media queries, font-face and the latest selectors
  • Understanding of Web Accessibility (WAI-ARIA) and general UX best practices
  • Responsible websites
  • JavaScript including OOP concepts, Ajax, JSON and best practices such as namespacing and DOM performance. Must be experienced with jQuery.
  • Source Control Management including branching (SCM) e.g. GitDesirable skills also include:
  • ASP.NET (C#)
  • Angular.JS
  • Mobile (iOS)
