Job Description

  • The role has extensive contact with all directors and managers on a regular basis. Therefore it is is key for the role holder to build effective relationships with directors, general managers and other key internal stakeholders.
  • The role has frequent contact at senior level with TMC/TME on legal and corporate organisational matters. This includes matters that are both complex and also confidential
  • Managing internal relationships situated in Epsom offices between Legal & Compliance and all other business functions including Toyota Financial Services.
  • Legal Compliance Manager will ensure an effective system of internal control, ensuring levels of legal and commercial risk are monitored and acted upon as necessary
  • Management of the team to ensure that the correct guidance and advice is provided to the business, as well as working with stakeholders to ensure that key issues or developments are highlighted
  • Establishing and maintaining management reporting structures to ensure that directors and the President/Managing Director receive appropriate and accurate reports of legal, risk and compliance issues.
  • Managing key internal projects and ensuring that the department effectively supports legal aspects of internal projects. This includes engagement with all areas of the business to ensure that all appropriate internal stakeholders are identified and considered.
  • Establishing, maintaining and managing relationships with key external stakeholders including external audit and legal service providers, regulators, trade bodies and other companies identified for bench marking opportunities. Representing company views at external legal meetings and utilising trade and regulatory bodies for views in relation to key legal or regulatory issues.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 5 years of experience of working in legal practice (either in-house or in private practice)
  • Ability to build sound working relationships across the business and external parties
  • Excellent influencing and guiding key decisions
  • Good all-round legal and compliance knowledge
  • Working knowledge of internal audit, corporate governance and management systems
  • Flexible and commercial approach
  • Experience of marketing law
  • Experience of ISO management systems
  • Previous experience of working in a regulatory environment.
