Our Client is a global leader with the office in Berkshire delivering business software solutions to its customers. They are looking for a motivated and high achieving lawyer to help take the business forward to the next level.

Job Description

As Legal Counsel EMEA, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Preparing, drafting, negotiating and reviewing of agreements for software licences, maintenance services, consulting services, managed/hosting services, tenders and RFPs and OEM arrangements (inbound and outbound) in the UK and internationally

  • Preparing, drafting, negotiating and reviewing of UK and international legal documents and contracts regarding the businesses Channel Partner Programme, development projects, outsourcing activities and third party vendors

  • The Legal Counsel will advise on EU competition, data privacy, anti-corruption, US GAAP and other applicable regulations

  • Maintaining the EMEA/AsiaPAC corporate legal structure (30+ active subsidiaries in EMEA), including trust-office management and existing EMEA trademark portfolio

  • Liaising with outside (local in country) counsel on specialist matters, such as litigation, localization of company standards, regulatory and M&A matters

  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures and strategic initiatives

  • Educating internal clients regarding policies and practice, legal issues and contracts on an ongoing basis

  • Compliance and enforcement of corporate policies and applicable laws and regulations

The Successful Applicant

  • The successful candidate should have experience in an IT organisation, preferably in licensing, services and cloud computing/SaaS, however this would also be a fantastic opportunity for a great lawyer in private practice with relevant expertise to make a move in house.

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Professional level English language skills, verbally and in writing, able to communicate complex concepts in a simple and easy to understand manner

  • Fluency in additional languages would be desirable although not necessary

  • Excellent drafting ability and attention to detail

  • Able to grasp complex problems quickly and provide pragmatic and commercial solutions

  • Able to work as part of a team and on individual matters

  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to work quickly and efficiently to meet tight deadlines

  • Willing to be proactive and take the initiative to address any issues that may arise

  • Good organisational skills

  • This role may involve some travel so ability and willingness to travel is desirable

  • Good technology skills and ability to learn new technologies

  • Excellent academics, 2:1 degree or above
