About Our Client

They have gone through a structural change in recent months and are looking for a driven, dynamic forward thinking management accountant to join them to look after one of their business units. Once fully trained and up to speed this role will be liaising and working closely with senior members of the organisation. This really is a fast paced, commercial finance role where you will be expected to add significant value to the wider business. Please note the position is within commuting distance of Durham, Newcastle and Gateshead.

Job Description

Examples of responsibilities:

  • Assist with financial analysis to support business cases
  • Build and maintain financial models to support pricing decisions
  • Build and maintain financial models as directed by the Finance Manager
  • Develop tools to enable in depth analysis of results and trends as agreed
  • Prepare Budget models
  • Assist in analysis of inputs, particularly transaction drivers (or similar)
  • Submit Budgets to Financial Reporting & Control (FR&C) in accordance with the Budget timetable and in the required format
  • Prepare reporting on budget submissions, including status against target
  • Prepare and maintain BU forecast models
  • Ensure the monthly P&L and balance sheet prepared and provided by FR&C for their business unit is complete and accurate
  • Advise FR&C of accruals required
  • Provide reporting for BUF Manager and BU heads summarising results for the month, YTD and forecast
  • Assist with review of General Ledger reconciliations if required

The Successful Applicant

Minimum Candidate Requirements:

  • This role is ideally suited to an accountant who is either fully qualified or very close to completing their studies
  • You will be technically astute, with a proven communication style that aids you to obtain the information to truly analyse a business. The successful candidate will have proven abilities to think outside the box, and have examples of how they have been able to add value to an operational business
  • Advanced excel skills are a must
