About Our Client

Based in Watford, our client is a market-leading real estate group with a diverse portfolio of commercial property throughout the UK.

Job Description

The Management Account role will entail the following:

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts for two of the operating companies within the group
  • Detailed exception reporting, review of results with budget holders and preparation of management information for board pack
  • Updating the year-end forecast on a monthly basis through partnering with commercial teams
  • Assist with preparation of the annual budget through business understanding, the application of modelling skills and by challenging assumptions.
  • Monthly completion of all Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Provide monthly overheads analysis reports for use by the business
  • Monthly completion of Bank Reconciliations
  • Provide support for VAT return production on a quarterly basis
  • Provide support for inter-company checks on a monthly basis on balances, prepayments and accruals, rents, service charge, interest and fees
  • Assist with coordination of the Tax compliance
  • Management of the relationships with external advisers - Auditors, Tax Consultants and Capital Allowance specialists - help with year end audit procedures.

The Successful Applicant

The suitable candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience of the following:

  • Qualified to degree level, 2:1 or above
  • Detailed variance analysis, forecasting and budgeting, month end close procedure
  • Property background ideal but not essential.
  • "Hands on" attitude with good attention to detail essential.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and deliver results.
  • Ability to communicate with both senior management and operational staff
  • Excellent Excel skills a must; JD Edward & Insight experience preferable.
  • Ability to clearly explain the financial impact of certain transactions to non-financial staff
  • Ability to critically assess the effectiveness of the company's current reporting systems and make recommendations for improvements.
